Hello again!

Hello again!

I’m Yumi, a product designer focused on UX research and UX/UI design. Before moving to San Francisco last year, I spent over two years living and working remotely in Osaka, aka “the kitchen of Japan”. Before that I lived in Seattle, and I'm originally from Denver. Experiencing life in different places has taught me a lot about people. I’m always curious about human behavior, including our relationships with technology and each other.

As a designer, I hope to collaborate on beautiful, human-centered products and systems that empower people to achieve their goals. I draw from my technical background when conducting research and testing to solve complex problems. I previously worked in biomedical communications, where I honed my skills in research, writing and content strategy, project management, and understanding the needs of people throughout the healthcare and pharmaceutical industries. I’ve also done laboratory research in molecular biology, where I sharpened my ability to ask pointed questions, formulate hypotheses, design experiments, test and validate ideas.

Aside from that, I'm drawn to the visual and performing arts - drawing, painting, graphic design, photography, classical piano, contemporary dance, you name it! So, I was thrilled to realize the creative process, UX design process, and the scientific method have a lot of similarities! I constantly flip between creative and analytical thinking. For this and many more reasons, I'm pursuing a career in product design. I'm ready to combine my skills and passions in a challenging environment to make lasting contributions that improve people’s lives.

Ready to work together or chat over coffee? Please say hello and feel free to check out my resume!
